NORMAN DAVIES

Norman Davies– a distinguished researcher of 20th century Polish history, writer and promoter of Polish history. He writes about history in the way everyone can read. He was born in Bolton, in North West England. Studied in Oxford, Grenoble, Perugia and Sussex.

He received his Ph.D. from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Worked with the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at the London University. Taught at world’s best universities: Columbia, Hokkaido, Stanford, Harvard and Adelaide. Worked in Wolfston College in Oxford. Member of the Royal Historical Society. Greatly appreciated by Polish society for fighting for historical truth. His best-known works include: ‘God's Playground. A History of Poland’, ‘Europe: A History’, ‘Rising '44. The Battle for Warsaw’

Norman Davies was honoured with the Order of Polonia Restituta and Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. He is the honorary citizen of Kraków, Wrocław and Lublin. He received honorary doctorates from many universities, including most recently from the University of Warsaw.
